Glenanne HC is seeking a right/left wing defender for our ladies 1st team competing in Leinster Division 1 (Premier Regional League). The club has a rich history of success, in both men and women’s section. The ladies 1st have competed at the top 4 of Leinster Division 1 for the past 3 consecutive years. This season finishing joint 5th. The ladies section also compete in the Irish Indoor National league. They came 2nd in the Leinster league final and placed overall 3rd in the Indoor National League. The ladies 1st team is going through a rebuilding phase with plenty of young girls coming through the junior section. The ladies 1st team are keen to recruit players that will lead and contribute towards achieving the clubs goal of getting the ladies 1s promoted to the national league (EYHL). We have a management squad with many years of experience including head coach Mark Lambe and goalkeeper coach Paul Bastable with level 2 Coaching badges and former Irish International Sam O’Connor as Assistant Coach. Additionally we have Graham Shaw (World Cup silver medallist with Ireland ladies and recent New Zealand ladies coach) as part of the Glenanne men’s coaching panel who welcomes discussions with the ladies coaching panel regularly. One of Glenanne’s unique features is its tight-knit community with regular social club and team events throughout the season. In recent years, the Mens 1s and Ladies 1s train and play on the same days. This has allowed mens 1st players in particular Ireland’s record goal-scorer, Shane O’Donoghue, to offer any additional skills or tips the ladies players wish to adapt into their game. A good range of passing ability and defensive nous is a must, with PC attack or defence skill and/or an aerial weapon an advantage.
