EHL is pushing hockey to be better and more exciting by allowing new rules to be tested during the tournament. Change is important and the EHL is revolutionising the sport. The self pass rule - you can take a free hit without having to pass the ball to a teammate first - was first introduced during the EHL. This was a massive game-changer in hockey that was acknowledged worldwide. Video umpire referrals, the two-minute green card rule and the penalty shoot-out format were all introduced during the EHL. Not to mention the rule to play the ball above the shoulder in a non-dangerous position has allowed the most liberating goals to be scored.
The EHL has been able to take the lead ahead of other sporting disciplines in achieving something that others have not been able to do. They are now introducing #equallyamazing. Both Men and Women will be competing at the EHL “with an equal broadcast showcase, equal prize money and the same elite level of promotion.” This is huge and a real testament to what EHL stands for.
