The tournament did not go off to the best start for the Belgian champions as Tom Boon had to be subbed off in the opening minutes with a hamstring injury that was carried into the tournament. However, the Belgians dug deep and pulled off a stellar defensive performance against Bloemendaal, running down a number of short corners to keep the game level. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go as planned in the shootouts as Leopold lost the game in sudden death.
They then faced HTC Uhlenhorst the following day to fight for 3rd place. With minimal rest time, the Belgians were off to a rocky start as they conceded two early goals, however, managed to turn the game on its head as they scored 4 short corners, 3 of which were scored by hat-trick hero and top goalscorer Max Muschs. This saw the Beglians take third place in the tournament earning them a bronze medal.
Romain Henet was awarded with the Scorrd Top Goalkeeper for the Mens 2021 EHL for two great goalkeeping performances throughout the weekend.
