Men’s 1st team head coach vacancy: West Hampstead Hockey Club Our M1s will be playing in the London Premier league in England Hockey’s new structure, and are looking for a new head coach: someone that’s enthusiastic, an excellent communicator, with clear strategies and tactics. Our training sessions are intense and focused, but with an atmosphere of fun and support. We have an ambition to build a single squad ethos across our M1s and M2s, and are looking for support in this, but we are open to adapting this role to suit the right candidate. Essential responsibilities: 1. Plan and lead the upper men's training session (currently Wednesday 8-10pm) from August 2021 to March 2022 2. Attend M1s preseason and league matches to manage the team, including a warm up and post-match debrief 3. Deliver effective team tactics on match days with adaptability, reviewing performances and adjusting training plans accordingly through the season 4. Assist the M1s captain with team selection, helping to manage player performance and providing feedback to develop both the team and individual players regularly

Compensation

This is a paid role, with fees subject to agreement of the role’s scope and based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. We may be able to offer accommodation in West Hampstead during the season as part of the package.

Coaching opportunities

Additional desirable responsibilities: Our ambition is to bring our M1s and M2s teams closer together, aiming for a ‘single squad’ ethos with a strong focus on player development and fluidity between teams. We are flexible and would like to hear your ideas on how this could be achieved, this could include: 1. Leading Wednesday training as a joint M1/2 session, liaising with M1 and M2 captains 2. Working closely with an internal M2 coach or assistant coach 3. Assisting with talent identification and development throughout the rest of the club We would also be open to a head coach candidate, who would mentor and assist club coaches to develop their coaching skills.

Job

Candidate requirements: 1. Coaching experience appropriate to the level of the role 2. Coaching qualification or equivalent; we will consider those without formal qualification but with sufficient relevant coaching experience 3. Eligible to work in the UK (holding a valid UK/EU passport or work permit) 4.
